Proposed few-optical cycle laser-driven particle accelerator structure
We describe a transparent dielectric grating accelerator structure that is designed for ultrashort laser pulse operation. The structure is based on the principle of periodic field reversal to achieve phase synchronicity for relativistic particles; however, to preserve ultrashort pulse operation it does not resonate the laser field in the vacuum channel. The geometry of the structure appears wel...
متن کاملLaser-driven Cyclotron Autoresonance Accelerator*
Theory is developed for the cyclotron autoresonance acceleration of electrons in a gently-focused Gaussian laser beam and a gently tapered axial magnetic field. Numerical simulation shows, for example, acceleration from 50 MeV to 178 MeV over a distance of 148 cm, using a 10.6 μm CO2 laser with a minimum spot size of 0.1 cm.
متن کاملProposed Waveguide Structure for Laser Driven Electron Acceleration
Solid state lasers have achieved high energy output with very short pulses (several Joules with pulses shorter than 1ps, peak power in the order of terawatts)[1]-[5]. Lithography and micro machining enables fabrication of features much less than 1μ m[13]-[17]. Combined with the fact that material damage threshold increases with shorter pulses[20][21], it is now possible to achieve electric fiel...
متن کاملProposed laser-driven, dielectric microstructure few-cm long undulator for attosecond coherent X-rays
This article presents the concept of an all-dielectric laser-driven undulator for the generation of coherent X-rays. The proposed laser-driven undulator is expected to produce internal deflection forces equivalent to a severalTesla magnetic field acting on a speed-of-light particle. The key idea for this laser-driven undulator is its ability to provide phase synchronicity between the deflection...
متن کاملLaser-driven Proton Accelerator for Medical Application *
The concept of a compact ion particle accelerator has become attractive in view of recent progress in laserdriven ion acceleration. We report here the recent progress in the laser-driven proton beam transport at the Photo Medical Research Center (PMRC) at JAEA, which is established to address the challenge of laser-driven ion accelerator development for ion beam cancer therapy.
